Celebrating Un-Labor Day
I know that today’s holiday has the word “Labor” in it, but I’m going to take today to exactly the opposite! There’s always so much busyness going on during the week and as I was sitting here trying to organize this week’s giveaway, gather ideas for the new daily posting schedule I’m working on and prepare for (finally) doing a new Biz Mommy Buzz video, I realized that this was NOT how I wanted to spend what should be my day off.

Working Hard vs. Achieving
Have you ever heard one of the variations on the speech about how it doesn’t matter what you do in life, as long as you do the best you can? My mother’s version was that “it doesn’t matter if you’re a street sweeper; you just go out there and be the best street sweeper there is!” I always ascribed to that philosophy and I still do. With a slight change.
Working at Home Mom? Learn From My Mistake!
No doubt about it, being a working at home mom is challenging. People tend to focus on the at home part, but from my experience, the emphasis is definitely on the word work! As I write this, my two young daughters lay soundly sleeping in their beds and it is EARLY in the morning – the only time I can manage to really get any work done. I’ve experimented with various schedules: work while they watch tv (not recommended), get a p/t sitter (expensive, especially on days when the creative juices are really flowing), work after they go to bed (and….snore….snore…snore – you get the picture). In the end, it turned out that early mornings work really well for me – I’m fresh, alert and, blissfully, alone.
