It’s National Wear Red Day!
For years, I sort of took my health for granted. I guess that’s not so surprising since many young people often put things such as
heart health and cholesterol levels pretty low on the priority list.
Like many women past the age of 35, my overall health and longevity became much more of a concern to me after I had kids. Of course, I want to be around for a very long time to model healthy habits for my kids, so I’ve become much more proactive about finding and serving healthy food choices to my family.
Given our busy schedules and my former binge-eating habits, sticking to a highly nutritious diet is definitely a work in progress and doesn’t always turn out as planned, but I’m determined to keep it a priority in our lives.
This week is Women’s Heart Health Week and to help raise awareness about the fight against heart disease, thousands of women (including me), companies and cities across the country are participating in Wear Red Day today. To find out who else is going red, visit Go Red for Women and tune into CBS’s chatfest “The Talk” today (2pm ET and 1pm PT/CT) to catch yours truly (that would be me!) giving a shout out to heart health.
And don’t forget to put on your best red shirt…
Happy Heart Health Day!
