Micrometers and Online Parental Controls

“Mommy, what are mi-crow-mee-ters?” Me: “What?” “What does mi-crow-mee-ter mean?” Me “Honey, I’m not sure what you’re talking about…hold on a sec”. At this point I begrudgingly step away from my computer to go look at my daughter’s computer and see what she could possibly be looking at. Me: “Oh, that’s micrometers – and how did you get to this site anyway? You’re supposed to be playing your math games. “I don’t know, there was a picture that was next to my game and I just clicked on it”. Me: “Well, you can’t just click on links that you see when you’re using the computer…you can play the games or watch the videos on the site that I open for you, but that’s it. If you see any links or pictures that are not part of your own game or video you need to call me and ask if it’s okay to click on it, okay?” “Okay, Mommy”.
