Modern Designer Lighting
Contemporary lighting is certainly a far cry from the cold, harsh light emanating
from the ceiling fixtures throughout every office building in the 1970′s and 80′s. Overworked and ambitious yuppies labored over coffee and under bright lights oblivious to the aesthetics of their surroundings or the effectiveness of necessary utilities.
Fast forward to 30 years later, and although there’s still a lot of hard workers out there, office lighting has become a lot softer and more forgiving. These days, it’s not uncommon to walk into an office floor filled with cubicles and find the lighting dimmed or with no overhead lighting at all. The only lights that some offices use regularly comes from lamps that sit on each employee’s desk.
Certainly more awareness about the importance of conserving energy has played a big part in the more conservative lighting habits of companies big and small. It may also be safe to say that, in recent years, the recession and subsequent corporate down-sizing forced small businesses to begin cutting back on expenses wherever they could.
In high-end establishments such as a real estate agent or investment broker’s office, however, the prosperity of their business relies heavily on the appearance of high-style or lavishness.
As often happens, though, necessity gives birth to invention and in lieu of over-the-top ceiling fixtures that can be embedded with expensive metals or stones, contemporary chandeliers in upscale offices have begun to appear with a much more subtle, yet still elegant, style. And the great thing about Modern Designer Lighting is that a customer can have sparer raw materials in their finished product and a streamlined cost without sparing the quality.
