Underground Shelter

Growing up on the east coast, New York city to be exact, I never had to worry about an underground shelter. Having seen the Wizard of Oz and various disaster movies, hurricanes and other severe storms seemed only the stuff of movies to me and not something that actually happened in real life. As I got older I began to think of storms as glamorous, kind of romantic even. But, clearly, as an adult I realize the severity and devastation that often come with major storms – as far as you can get from romantic.
