There was a time when I would never have dared to leave the house without at least some kind of makeup on – whether it was just shiny lip gloss and a little blush or a bit of mascara and black eyeliner. It was just part of my daily routine when I was a teenager. As a young woman out in the dating world, I had my little makeup tips and tricks for looking my alluring best and I must say, I did a rather good, but subtle, application of “ready to go” makeup each day.

Of course, as many a mom can certainly relate, all that changed once the kids came along. With the daily running, feeding, picking up, errands, playing and putting out fires, I barely had time to shower – let alone even think about trying to apply makeup.

As it turns out, I’ve actually come to like my “bare-face” look far better than I ever liked the made-up look. But I must admit that on those rare occasions when I get a night out with the hubby, I do enjoy dragging out my dusty makeup box and playing around with lip, eye and cheek colors – even though my daughters refuse to let me kiss them goodbye when I have lipstick on!
