Revisiting the Mantra
I just returned from a 10-day vacation and as is often the case with
uninterrupted time for relaxation, I had a bit of change in perspective. Part of it was the usual recognition of the importance of down time and learning to appreciate the simple things in life, but the major realization I had was the desire to take my blog in a slightly different direction. I’m not talking major overhaul here, just a bit more focus on the themes and issues which are most important to me.
Recently, I’ve had some great and fun opportunities come my way as a direct result of being a so-called “mommy blogger“. And though that particular title may cause mixed emotions in some, I am proud to be included in the ranks of hard-working, multi-tasking, smart and creative women who have enthusiastically taken full advantage of responsible corporate sponsorship and found interesting ways to contribute to the family budget.
So, although I will continue to participate in and support that thriving community on the indicated pages of this blog, moving forward, I feel the need to write more about things of a spiritual nature on my homepage. And what I mean by that is, as a hypnotherapist, I help people understand what it truly takes to achieve success in any area of their life. In the past, I have often hesitated to mention hypnotherapy explicitly in my posts because I thought some people would think it was too “out there” for them. But then I remembered a phrase I heard long ago that has always stayed with me, “You’re responsible for what you know.” I realized that it would be a dis-service not to try to inspire and educate people on the amazing power of the subconscious mind to create positive, long-lasting change.
Hypnotherapy is about breaking down mental blocks that keep people from achieving the kind of success that they know they want but just can’t seem to make happen. Have you ever repeatedly said you were going to do something only to be easily distracted by random things that “just happen” to come up? Then on New Year’s Eve, you vow wholeheartedly that THIS will be YOUR year!
Well, of course you are not alone in this. For some, willpower can be very strong and may get you over the hump, but not always. It may be surprising, but many highly successful people (think celebrities, athletes, Fortune 500 CEOs) use strategies like regular hypnotherapy sessions to help them stay on track. Quite a few of them say that they don’t think they would be nearly as successful without it. Using various hypnotherapy techniques, I help people find the belief, energy and motivation that guides them to take the actions necessary to achieve success.
People may have the best intentions – and may even sustain success for short periods of time – but then that old subconscious programming kicks in and you find yourself back at square one.
I have seen this cycle repeat itself many times with friends, family and clients. So, what exactly can be done to start moving away from bad habits that keep you stuck and towards a more desired path?
Well, that’s where mantras come in. Using hypnosis to create a deepened state of relaxation and a heightened sense of awareness is only a part of the process. An essential element of creating the change you wish to see is repetition. A mantra serves as a reminder of your new behavior that you can rely on whenever you feel the old behavior creeping up. After a certain amount of time with constant repetition of your mantra, the new behavior becomes rote and a more permanent and natural part of who you are.
So, ultimately, I’d like to use this space as a place to inspire you to take on spiritual and emotional challenges and begin tackling them head-on, one by one. Not just with empty positive quotes, but with ideas and mantras that you can use on a daily basis to create the kind of positive, life-affirming and permanent changes you want in your life. Because once you know better, you will hopefully pass your knowledge on and, together, we can create a beautiful chain of powerful transformations. That is my heartfelt wish.
????????????????????????
Mantra: A word or phrase based upon energy. A mantra is used to
achieve spiritual transformation. Although there is a general meaning
which has come to be associated with mantras, the only lasting
definition is the result or effect of saying the mantra repetitiously. (Sanskrit Mantra)
Today’s Mantra
I am ready to implement and follow through on creating positive change in my life. I am __________________. (ex: “I am a non-smoker”, ”I am losing weight easily” or “I am earning money doing what I love to do”)
Important Notes:
-
Always use “I am” statements instead of “I will” as this keeps the action in the present tense instead of always in the future and, therefore, just out of your reach.
-
It is said that it takes 30 days to create a new habit; for best results, use the mantra at least three times a day for 30 days. More repetitions throughout the day is the most effective.
-
Some people have found it useful to post sticky notes in random places they can look at during the day or set reminder alarms at regular intervals.

I popped over and am happy I read this post. Downtime is something I have to remind myself that it’s okay to take. Revitalizing ourselves helps us to improve and enjoy what we’ve accomplished even more.
Hi Lanita!
Yes, I think allowing for “free” time is a challenge for most people who are self-employed. But as you mention, it is SO vital to keeping our energy, drive and overall well-being on a balanced level. Thanks so much for stopping by – I’m looking forward to our chat next week!
