Can’t We All Just Get Along?
Just in case you hadn’t noticed, there’s a lot of snark in the blogosphere. And I don’t just mean between Mommy
Bloggers - although there is obviously a fair dose of that. But, there are some so-called “serious” bloggers and writers who frown down upon the masses of casual bloggers or those who are strictly on the “blog for profit” model.
Now, let’s face it; blogging isn’t rocket science. It’s someone’s personal platform to communicate a number of things: their thoughts, their skills, their ideas, their brand. It’s the ultimate promotional tool and as such I don’t see the reason for all the snobbery. I mean, when I came across the following comment the other day while reading Anna Viele’s terrific blog, ABDPBT, I was honestly flabbergasted…Read More »»»

Really well said Tisha. There is enough for everyone and helping each other rather than trying to pull each other down is much more rewarding all round!

Tisha great advice. I think you really do have to be comfortable with what you are doing and be confident that you are doing things in a way that positively contribute. When you know this for certain, it is much easier to continue to successfully move forward through any criticism that may come your way. The reality is that you may run into it from time to time, but as long as you know you are following your own truth, you will not be distracted or negatively impacted by it.
Hey Sibyl – so true what you said about being confident in what you’re doing! It’s definitely a good practice to toughen oneself up against the certain criticism they’ll receive at one time or another, especially in this very crowded sea of bloggers vying for attention. I read a comment yesterday on another blog about how this woman was having such great fun with blogging until she recieved her first few negative and mean comments. She wanted to know if that was a normal thing or if it meant that her writing was just crap and maybe she should just stop blogging altogether! I bet there’s plenty of stories of people out there who hung in the towel for very similar reasons. So it is imperative that we claim our platform, hold onto it tightly and wave it around proudly – regardless of the praise or criticism involved.
Thanks, as always, for your insightful comments!
Applause! Applause! Very well said indeed!
Thanks Meleah!
So true… All the snark is a waste of time. Everyone is entitled to earn a living; especially at what they love. Following you from Follow Friday on BlogFrog.
